1. Choose the right parcel carrier

We have chosen a close collaboration with the parcel carrier DHL. This allows us to know exactly what’s going on and seize opportunities that arise to further optimize our deliveries.

2. Choose a shipping strategy

It sounds logical and maybe very obvious, but a large stock of shipping labels, boxes, and tape is necessary. Especially during the holiday months. During this busy period, your company is mainly focused on shipping the products, and inventory management might get overlooked.
Extra stock brings peace of mind for the organization during this period. Make sure to have it all in order on time. Do you have still need extra labels and running out of time? No worries, if you order your labels before 9:00 PM (even on Friday!), you'll have them at home the next business day. You can come to us for compatible labels from all well-known printer brands, such as Zebra, Dymo and Brother. We can also supply the original printers, but keep in mind a slightly longer delivery time.
Do you still have a question? Feel free to contact our customer service, we are happy to give you advice for choosing the right printer and/or labels.

3. Choose your shipping strategy

Which shipping strategy do you apply? Do you offer free shipping? Do you go for free shipping over a certain amount? Do you choose fixed shipping costs, regardless of the order amount? Or do you calculate the exact shipping costs for each order?
Which strategy you apply depends entirely on the impact on your customers and on your margin. Know your customers and evolve with their views on an optimal shopping experience.

4. Be transparent about shipping options and costs

Unclear communication about shipping costs and delivery times can negatively impact conversion rates. Transparency about costs and delivery times can be the final push for a customer to make a purchase. So be clear in your communication with the customer.
On our website, we clearly communicate our delivery options, and it is always possible to contact our customer service if there are special requests.

5. Consider the return policy

Many customers check the return policy of an online store, so ensure you have a clear strategy and communication with the customer. It is a strategic choice who ultimately bears the costs of the return policy, and this choice depends on the industry and expected return. Especially in the fashion industry, it is common to make returns as easy as possible. A pre-printed label with your delivery ensures that the customer can easily return items.

6. The last mile

The last mile is the part of the process that you, as a company, have little to no control over. This is the period from handing over to the carrier until delivery to the customer. A clear and good shipping label is essential – so that your customer's address details are clearly readable for the carrier. Nothing is more frustrating for a customer than having to wait for an ordered package that doesn’t arrive. Minimize this risk and opt for quality labels (and printers).

7. Make unboxing a celebration

With some small adjustments, you can surprise the customer with, for example, a sample of a product, a discount coupon, or a personal note. You might also encourage the shopper to share a positive experience on social media.

8. Stand out with unique shipping labels

Use the packaging as a communication tool. One way to do this is by using unique and personalized shipping labels. Did you know that you can also have custom labels made at Zolemba with our configurator? Design your own label with a logo and an attractive message. The possibilities are endless in terms of material, shape, and color. This way, you can also bring a smile to your customer's face.
You can place the label on the outside of a (standard) box, making it "branded," so your brand becomes visible on the packaging. By also placing a label with a greeting, compliment, or thank you on the inside of the box/lid, you complete the customer experience!

A fantastic customer experience from A to Z

Hopefully, the above tips help you to optimize your shipping process, from the shipping labels you choose to the return policy you offer. Because when you create a great shopping experience for your customers, you also create great opportunities for your business!
